Looking for a casual fun place to work? Ripple Junction is looking to add a full time, Technical Designer for Accessories to our band of quirks! The right candidate will be responsible for being detailed oriented individual with excellent communication and organizational skills. The Technical Designer contributes to the development and production process by interpreting and engineering the product to meet the design vision and costing structure. They will also ensure products achieve the construction, quality, and detail requirements to meet customer and licensor expectations.
A DAY IN THE LIFE
- Work with Product Managers to develop product within appropriate supplier capability and target costing needs for upcoming product lines.
- Create technical drawings based on inputs from Product Management and Design Teams.
- Work with Design and Production Art Teams to create comprehensive tech packs for licensed products.
- Maintaining internal systems to reflect current sample status and development lead times.
- Critique proto samples for accuracy to initial concept, construction quality and wearability. Communicate all necessary changes to factory.
- Internal sample management with cross functional teams to ensure proper customer and licensor approvals.
MUST HAVES
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Product Design, Manufacturing, or equivalent experience.
- 2-3 years’ experience in the apparel/soft goods industry in a technical design role.
KNOWLEDGE
- Knowledge of soft goods; including materials, testing, dyeing, finishing, and other product development fundamentals.
- Demonstrates a solid knowledge of accessories manufacturing processes.
- Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite and general knowledge of Outlook and Microsoft Office.
- Working knowledge of the product development life cycle and key milestones therein.
COMMUNICATION/TEAMWORK
- Self-starter with ability to function independently as well as in a team-based environment.
- Excellent written & communication skills and necessary follow through.
- Work collaboratively with cross functional teams including design, sales and production to elevate the collective performance and meet company goals.
ADMINISTRATIVE
- Great attention to detail and deadlines with exceptional organizational skills.
- Process-oriented with a proactive approach to problem solving.
- Responsible for tracking style development in internal data systems.
- Assist with the general organization and cleanliness of the department.
- Complies with policies and procedures as set forth in the employee handbook.
