What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounting Assistant position at Rise and Shine Social Enterprises?
POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for daily A/R and A/P functions for the organization. Reports to the Accounting Manager
WORK ENVIRONMENT: This position works in an office environment. May encounter stressful situations and repetitive work. Occasional evening and weekend work is required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Perform day-to-day financial transactions, including verifying, classifying, computing, posting and recording accounts payable data with minimal supervision.
- Prepare checks for signature; enter and reconcile automatic payments.
- Reconcile the accounts receivable ledger to ensure that all payments are accounted for and properly posted.
- Verify discrepancies and resolve issues.
- Generate reports detailing accounts receivable status.
- Works closely with the Accounting Manager to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
- Maintain open, clear communication with the Leadership Team regarding A/P and A/R.
- Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, QuickBooks, and HRIS/Payroll systems.
- Must have and demonstrate a positive attitude and a solutions-oriented mindset.
- Must pass Oregon criminal background screening.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate degree in accounting, Business Administration preferred.
- A minimum of five years or more of related experience is preferred.
- Proficient with QuickBooks and Microsoft Office Suite.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs., bend, and/or squat.
- Must be able to walk up and down stairs.
- Must be able to sit/stand for long periods of time.
- Must be able to perform the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
Salary : $29,800 - $37,700
