What are the responsibilities and job description for the Animal Technician position at Rise Therapeutics?
Rise Therapeutics is recruiting a lead animal technician to work as part time employee or contractor to support preclinical activities. The candidate will perform a variety of in vivo studies using different murine models. This work will be important to validating a variety of new drugs being developed at Rise Therapeutics to accelerate clinical development opportunities in disease areas including cancer and autoimmunity.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Perform survival surgical procedures on mice, including handling, restraint, tumor volume measurement with calipers, anesthesia, euthanasia, tissue and blood collection, and tissue cryopreservation.
- Execute multiple injection techniques including IV, IM, IP, and SQ.
- Follow and draft standard operating procedures for techniques and procedures.
- Record study data within the laboratory information management system.
- Read, understand, and adhere to study protocols.
- Perform general study preparation and organizational activities, including sample tube labeling, supply organization and stocking, and laboratory organization.
- Additional responsibilities may include training, special projects, or project leadership.
Qualifications, Skills and Abilities:
- BS degree in animal science, biology, pharmacology, or related field.
- 2-4 years of related experience in laboratory animal studies.
- Ability to perform a basic animal handling techniques
- Organized and detail oriented.
- Solid understanding of murine models of cancer and immunology.
- Interest in expanding vivarium-based skill set
Job Types: Part-time, Contract
Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 10 – 20 per week
