What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lineman 3rd Class- Special Projects position at River City Construction, Inc?
The 3rd Class Lineman is an entry level lineman position in the construction, maintenance, and repair of overhead electric distribution and service lines, transformers, meters, metering equipment, electrical substations, and related equipment. Other duties include climbing wood poles, ladders, and towers.
Core Responsibilities
Works safely while assisting in the new construction, maintenance, or repair work of energized and de-energized overhead work.
- Assist in the installation or removal of overhead conductors.
- Frame, install, or remove wood, steel, or concrete poles and supports.
- Assist with the installation or removal of capacitors, regulators, transformers, transformer banks, lightening arrestors, cutouts, crossarms, insulators, switches, and switchgear.
- Maintains company vehicles, equipment, rubber goods, PPE, and tools in good working order.
- Contribute to the development of and participate in the delivery of the Pre-Job Briefing.
Minimum Requirements
One or more years of experience.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Able to read and communicate effectively in English.
Ability to travel and work for extended periods in various locations.
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) by hire date.
- Background investigation and drug screen required.
Substance Abuse Testing
This position is subject to Department of Transportation (DOT) Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) drug and alcohol testing as outlined in 49 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 382.
Physical Demands
Work involves moderate physical exertion, heavy lifting, exposure to inclement weather such as extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind, as well as the hazardous conditions of working with high-voltage energized lines and equipment. Must be able to bend and lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more or 20 inches or less, with the ability to judge distance and space relationships. Precise hand-eye coordination. Ability to identify and distinguish colors.
Work Environment
This position is performed in outside weather conditions and employee may be frequently exposed to inclement weather such as extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind, as well as the hazardous conditions of working with energized high-voltage conductors and equipment. Employee may occasionally be exposed to loud noises.
