The River Valley family of companies: River Valley Foods, Cavallaro Foods and Garden Spot Foods, distributes a wide range of specialty dry and frozen grocery items and consumable products out of warehouses in Syracuse, NY and New Holland, PA.
General Description/Purpose:
The Supply Chain Manager is integral to the Purchasing team and supports our commitment to exceptional customer service by managing specific categories of products. This includes becoming familiar with the features and use of the products, maintaining inventory levels and working with vendors to source new items. The successful candidate demonstrates excellent organizational skills, the ability to prioritize and adapt, and connects these skills through open, effective communication.
Job Responsibilities:
Analyze and maintain proper inventory levels based on sales volumes, pending customer orders, and vendor and transportation requirements.
Maintain product information database to ensure accurate item specifications, vendor pricing and other programs.
Coordinate with vendors to ensure timely delivery of ordered product and proactively communicate any delays or disruptions to affected departments.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and brokers based on trust, integrity, respect and mutual benefits.
Identify and react to slow-moving or obsolete inventory.
Analyze sales and product trends in assigned categories.
Advise sales department and management of current supplier activity which could affect pricing or product availability.
Collaborate with Sales and Purchasing team members and vendors to determine customer needs, preferences and order trends.
Research and source new items as directed by members of the Sales team.
Apply an understanding of cost, margin, selling prices, and promotional discounts and pursue opportunities for cost reduction and value improvements.
Coordinate vendor participation in our Foods Shows and Promotional Programs
Perform additional job duties as required.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and related experience
At least two years of experience in a purchasing role with a preference for turn buying and/or grocery experience.
Work Schedule:
Monday – Friday 8am-4:30pm
Wages:
$55,000 - $68,000 per year
