Therapeutic Youth Mentor

Join our dynamic team at the local educational agency as a Therapeutic Youth Mentor and make a meaningful difference in the lives of families right in their homes and the broader community. This is more than a job; it's a chance to foster positive change and growth in young lives.

• Focus Age Group: 5-21 years old
• Training: Specialized training provided to effectively mentor at-risk youth

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and nurture relationships with families, building a foundation of trust and support.
• Craft personalized service plans, guiding each youth towards achieving their unique goals.
• Offer multifaceted support, including transportation for essential appointments and proactive check-ins.
• Collaborate closely with Youth & Family Specialists, providing versatile support across various family needs.

Who We're Looking For:

- A driven, self-sufficient individual with a passion for youth development and a culturally sensitive, trauma-informed approach.

- A person with a strong sense of autonomy, thriving in a role that requires minimal supervision.

- Candidates with an educational background in mental health-related fields, or substantial relevant experience.

Position Details:

• Part-time (20-40 hours a month), with potential for full-time hours.
• Flexibility: Must be available during late afternoons and evenings.
• Compensation: Competitive, based on direct client interaction hours, plus mileage reimbursement.

Immediate Needs:

We are especially seeking male and LGBTQ mentors to enrich our diverse team and better reflect the communities we serve. Current critical hours are 2-7 PM.

Qualifications:

- Minimum 1 year of experience in education or social work with children/adolescents and adults.

- Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Psychology, Counseling, or Social Work, though Associate’s degrees or extensive experience are also valued.

- A deep understanding of the NASW Code of Ethics, with exemplary moral integrity and professional boundaries.

- Experience in child welfare, mental health skill-building, or intensive in-home services is highly advantageous.

- Valid driving license and willingness to travel within Harrisonburg City, Rockingham, and Augusta County.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $15.00 - $19.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10 – 40 per week
