POSITION SUMMARY- Clinical Informatics Manager
This position, under the direction of the IT leader, manages the planning and day-to-day operations of the Clinical Informatics Team. This position is responsible for the overall adoption, optimization, quality, training, implementation, and ongoing support related to the clinical systems and workflows utilized by providers, nurses and others across the hospital and clinic settings; the setup and ongoing support of the superuser program; and the execution of clinical informatics projects (in collaboration with the service lines, departments, vendors and IT leadership).

Education and Experience
Minimum 1-3 years clinical experience
Minimum 1-3 years electronic medical record system experience
Minimum 1-3 years of supervisory or leadership experience with progressive management responsibilities
Proven leadership and experience in Information Technology operations, HIPAA privacy laws and HITECH regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
Clinical systems experience (Epic a plus)
Clinical informatics experience, hospital and clinic setting
License/Certificates
RN/LPN Licensure

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership:
Provides leadership and oversight of the clinical informatics program related to hospital and clinic patient care services. Supports the IT leader through development of goals, objectives and programs consistent with those of the organizations overall strategic plan and initiatives.
Manages staff resources by overseeing the recruiting, selecting, hiring and orienting of qualified individuals. Evaluates staff performance in an accurate, consistent, objective and timely manner. Develops core position hiring strategies and ensures opportunities for professional development.
Maintains clinical competencies and/or knowledge in accord with scope and responsibility of the position, and ensures the same of the clinical informatics team members.
Participates in organizational and medical staff committees (as requested) and serves as a professional resource for physicians, clinicians, and leadership. Also, collaborates with physicians and clinicians regarding Nursing Administration programs and services.
Builds the superuser program and provides the ongoing support plan to ensure timely and effective first level clinical support within the patient care areas.
Regulatory:
Ensures compliance with local, state and federal regulatory agency standards (ie HIPAA and others). Reviews, monitors and updates applicable policies and procedures.
Adoption/Optimization:
Proactively identifies and acts upon improvement projects and opportunities related to workflow, quality, safety, cost, patient satisfaction, provider satisfaction and employee satisfaction through rounding, observation, data analysis, engagement with partners, review of external impact factors and best practices, as well as ongoing communication with leadership and staff.
Provides oversight of the assessment, evaluation, planning and implementation of the information system support needs for patient care operations according to clinical judgment, policies and procedures, and standards. This includes creating a governance process for the prioritization and status of the system support needs/changes.Develops and manages project plans for new and/or changes to clinical systems (where not provided by IT project management). This includes the design, development (where possible), testing, training, implementation and support. This may consist of workflow changes, system changes, system fixes, new systems, etc…). Builds the expertise within the team to be able to design and build changes within the clinical and business systems (where possible). This is the analyst role within the team vs. the informatics role within the team.
Training/Education:
Provides training and education for new and existing users of the clinical systems. Utilizes the super users and super user trainers where possible. Creates and provides ongoing competency testing to ensure effective use of the systems.
Coordinates the evaluation, communication, testing and training of the clinical system releases provided by the vendor.
Performs other duties as assigned to achieve goals (rounding with customers, attending customer department meetings, utilizing Epic analytic data, designing solutions, creating testing solutions, developing training plans and competency testing, creating and training downtime procedures, etc…).
