Job Summary:

The Database Administrator will be the primary resource for our data storage solutions and driving best practices to maintain our database structures such that they can operate at peak performance. The Database Administrator is responsible for maintaining and enforcing the integrity, security, and performance of our databases while contributing to the design and development of our database and warehouse systems.


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and maintain optimal database performance, conducting regular performance tuning and query optimizations for maximum efficiency.
  • Install, configure and upgrade database software and related tools. 
  • Develop and implement database backup and recovery strategies to proactively address issues and ensure a high level of data reliability and minimize downtime.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as database backups, restores, index rebuilding and statistics gathering.
  • Manage users and access (permissions/roles) to all digital data within RIVO’s umbrella.
  • Setup and monitor database jobs/events.
  • Maintain database Entity Relationship Diagrams (ERD) and comprehensive documentation of database configurations, processes, and procedures.
  • Setup, maintain and optimize data replication, identifying database performance bottlenecks and resolving to ensure optimal query performance.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot database and host health, working closely with cross-functional teams to investigate and resolve database related issues and provide timely and effective resolution.
  • Implement and enforce security measures of company databases, performing regular audits and vulnerability assessments to identify and address potential risks.
  • Preserve data integrity and security measures to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with industry standards and legal regulations.
  • Participate in the design, development and maintenance of database architectures, partitions, drives, coding standards, and established best practices.
  • Contribute to the planning and execution of database-related projects, collaborating with the team to design and implement efficient database solutions.
  • Assist data analysts with their query and code development, ensuring efficient and accurate results for data reporting and coaching and teaching best practices in building procedures and functions.
  • Assist in strategies for better database deployments with our proprietary lending software (Production/Staging or Blue/Green).
  • Assist with strategizing long-term initiatives like clustering, high availability, data federation, enterprise data warehouse, data lake, data ingest (ETL and/or ELT), data modeling and data streaming services.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


The DBA will also work closely with the Rivo Data Enablement (RDE) team:

  • Assist data analysts with their query development, ensuring efficient and accurate results for data reporting.
  • Assist with code development, coaching and teaching best practices in building procedures and functions.


The DBA will also support the DevOps team:

  • Assist in strategies for better database deployments with our proprietary lending software.
  • Assist with strategizing long-term initiatives like clustering, high availability, data federation, enterprise data warehouse, data lake, data ingest (ETL and/or ELT), data modeling and data streaming services.


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • At least 8 years of experience as a Database Administrator or Database Engineer.
  • Certification in relevant database technologies strongly preferred (Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate).

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of relational database management systems (RDBMS) such as MS SQL, Oracle, MySQL, or PostgreSQL.
  • Proficient in database design, normalization, and optimization techniques.
  • Proficient in database security, backup and recovery, and disaster recovery planning.
  • Proficient in cloud-based database services (AWS, AZURE SQL Database).
  • Proficient in database monitoring and performance tuning tools (Solarwinds).
  • Strong scripting skills (e.g., SQL, Python, Bash) for automation and data manipulation.
  • Familiarity with database engineering principles and best practices.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you will be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. A reasonable estimate of the salary range for this job is $120,000.00 to $150,000.00. Individual salaries within those ranges takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to education; experience and training; licensure and certifications; knowledge and skill sets; and other business and organizational needs.
