What are the responsibilities and job description for the FT Physician Assistant position at RMA Network?
Responsibilities:
- Provide health promotion, screening, diagnosis and management of infertility and reproductive endocrinology disorders. Referrals will be made as necessary to other health care providers.
- Obtain detailed medical history, review medical records and perform appropriate physical examination
- Perform thorough infertility evaluation including: ultrasonography, routine gynecological exams, saline sonograms, intrauterine inseminations, endometrial biopsies, and the review and interpretation of lab values.
- Perform oocyte donor and gestational carrier evaluations and examinations
- Collaborate with physician in developing and implementing treatment plan appropriate to individual patient.
- Provide patient counseling and education on pertinent health issues.
- Contribute to physicians’ effectiveness by identifying patient care issues; provide information and commentary pertinent to patient care plan; recommend possible options and courses of action as appropriate; implement physician directives.
- Coordinate care for assigned patients following the required RMA protocols and procedures, including the appropriate workflow chart processes and performance benchmarks.
- Document patient care services in the Artemis database, with special attention to consents, FDA paperwork, and medications.
- Establish a compassionate environment by providing emotional and psychological support to patients; comfort patients by anticipating their anxieties and answering questions and concerns.
- Resolve patient problems and concerns by utilizing multidisciplinary team strategies.
- Promote patient independence by teaching patients to understand treatment plan, medications, and self-care skills through e-learning and other patient education available in RMA approved materials and on the RMA website.
- Accept/make phone calls within established timelines regarding laboratory values and semen analysis results, with appropriate explanation and interpretation.
- Assist physician with in-office procedures as needed.
- Maintain a cooperative relationship among fellow team members in all office locations by communicating information; responding to requests; building rapport, and participating in team problem-solving methods; contribute to team effort by accomplishing patient care results as needed.
- Work effectively with members of the clinical, laboratory, and administrative teams; maintain a cooperative and productive working relationship intra-departmentally as well as inter-departmentally.
- Attend department meetings and trainings as required; communicate issues when appropriate.
- Assist in the orientation/training of new team members
Requirements:
- Successful completion of physician assistant program - required
- Board certification – required
- Current state physician assistance license - required
- Previous experience in women's health or reproductive endocrinology and infertility – preferred
- BLS certification - required
- High level of listening & counseling skills - required
- Aptitude to work independently and demonstrate good judgment - required
- Ability to access, input, and retrieve information from a computer - required
- Must be able to work weekends and holidays as assigned - required
- May require unanticipated need to work beyond scheduled shift due to patient care needs - required
