Number of Hours Per Week: Full-Time - 55 to 60 hours on average - May vary depending on business needs. Frequent evening and weekend hours.
Qualification Standard:
Demonstrates leadership abilities as evaluated by the Executive Director of Operations. Minimum of two (2) to five (5) years multi-unit casual dining experience. High school diploma or GED is required. Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or hospitality is beneficial and may be substituted for one (1) year multi-unit experience. General knowledge of computer software operating systems is essential. A valid driver’s license is required. Must possess knowledge of business and management principles, planning, resource allocation, human resources, legal compliance, leadership, production methods and coordination of people and resources. Must travel the equivalent of three (3) weeks per period.
Essential Functions and Duties:
**Essential functions are the basic job duties that an employee must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation.
1. Leads and directs all aspects of operations for approximately 9-15 restaurants located in multiple states. Maintains a strong presence in restaurants within the region ensuring the proper execution of operational standards by frequently visiting restaurants to ensure Applebee’s standards of operations excellence, food safety and sanitation are met, and individuals are held appropriately accountable.
2. Directs a team of General Managers to ensure the achievement of operational standards and priorities. Provides leadership and development to strengthen the team and the quality of restaurant operations.
3. Utilizes and coordinates resources and supports People Resources, Marketing, Accounting, Legal, Risk Management, Training, Facilities and Operations departments.
4. Works closely with the Marketing Director to develop and implement strategic plans and market specific initiatives that ensure aggressive unit and region growth in terms of store openings, same-store sales and profitability.
5. Provides direction for financial operations of all restaurants.
6. Plans, budgets, analyzes and implements effective action steps to achieve financial objectives for restaurants and G & A expenses for the region.
7. Works with EDO and HR to ensure the restaurants are properly staffed with managers and associates; that proper succession planning for GM and Director positions exist; that proper and appropriate working development plans exist for all managers.
8. Contributes to the strategic direction of Applebee’s as a member of the Senior Management team. Works closely with other DOs and department heads to ensure alignment throughout the brand.
9. Works with EDO, HR and Payroll to ensure compliance as related to employment risk at the federal and state levels in areas such as unemployment, workers’ compensation, wage and hour laws, prevention of claims of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, prevention of any activities in violation of federal, state or local law, responsible service of alcohol and guest liability issues.

10. Ensures a proper balance of time spent in restaurants, in the office and communicating to RVP.
11. Ensures the proper communication and implementation of company directives and initiatives within the region.
12. Attracts, coaches and develops talent to ensure a competent, motivated and highly effective field leadership team.
13. All other job duties assigned by a superior member of management to ensure the effectively and order operations of
the restaurants.
