The Role
As the Lead Compounding Pharmacist, you will be responsible for managing the compounding facility located in Buffalo Grove, Illinois. This role is responsible for ensuring that the pharmacy meets daily compounding metrics and tasks set forth by the company and the Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC). This individual will lead the day-to-day operations within this department, as well as be responsible for implementing and ensuring adherence to P&P with compounding personnel, inventory management, establishing good documentation practices, proper equipment utilization and maintenance, and collaborating with the PIC to ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state laws and compounding guidelines. In addition, this individual will work closely with the Supply Chain, Compliance, Operations, and Quality teams to support the growth and development of the business, personnel, and compounding space. This role reports directly to the PIC.
What You’ll Do:
- Oversee and manage pharmacy-relevant metrics, day-to-day productivity/quality for reports, and scheduling tasks.
- Compound and supervise the compounding of nonsterile, nonhazardous prescription medications. This includes mixing and packaging orders, managing inventory, and ensuring a compliant, organized working environment to ensure the safe, accurate, and timely dispensing of compounded medication.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable compounding policies and procedures, and help draft and review new ones as needed.
- Perform Netsuite audits to ensure all compounding work orders are completed accurately and within a timely manner.
- Oversee training of new compounding pharmacists and technicians
- Collaborate with the PIC to ensure compliance with all relevant state and federal compounding guidelines and regulations.
- Build strong relationships with cross-functional partners in Supply Chain, Compliance, Operations, and Quality Teams.
- Ensure good documentation practices, and that all documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
- Ensure proper inventory management and all appropriate paperwork is reviewed and filed.
- Serve as the on-site SME for compounding for any inspections.
- May be asked to obtain additional non-resident pharmacist licenses to support the needs of the pharmacy
What You’ll Bring to the Team:
- 5 years of experience in a compounding role where you were responsible for product preparation
- USP 795 experience
- Intimate knowledge of the compounding process, best practices for formulations and procedures
- Highly independent and autonomous
- Pharm D from an Accredited College of Pharmacy
- Active and unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in the state of Illinois
- Strong, metric-driven operator who works well in a team environment

Pay: $132,000.00 - $135,000.00 per year
