Our client in the Atwater market has an immediate need for an Accountant to join their team on a contract to hire basis. This role will be working onsite Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm
In this role, you will be responsible for a range of accounting tasks, including general ledger maintenance, financial statement preparation, journal entries, financial reporting, budgeting, and reconciliations for our multi-departmental organization. The ideal candidate should have a bachelor's degree or AA degree in Accounting or a related field and possess at least 2-3 years of general accounting experience, with proficiency in MS Excel.
Responsibilities:
General Ledger Maintenance:
Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring accurate recording of financial transactions.
Prepare and post journal entries for various accounts and transactions.
Financial Statement Preparation:
Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Ensure financial statements are accurate, complete, and comply with accounting standards.
Financial Reporting:
Generate and distribute financial reports to department heads and management.
Provide financial analysis and insights to support decision-making.
Budgeting:
Collaborate with department heads to develop and monitor departmental budgets.
Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and forecasts.
Reconciliations:
Perform regular bank and account reconciliations to ensure accuracy.
Investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
Data Analysis:
Analyze financial data and trends to identify areas for improvement or cost-saving opportunities.
Provide recommendations based on data-driven insights.
Compliance:
Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and relevant regulations.
Assist with audit preparations and coordinate with external auditors as needed.
Process Improvement:
Identify opportunities to enhance accounting processes and implement improvements for efficiency and accuracy.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or AA degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in general accounting roles.
Proficiency in MS Excel, including the ability to create complex spreadsheets and perform data analysis.
Strong understanding of general ledger accounting principles and practices.
Experience with financial statement preparation and financial reporting.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping.
Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
