Accountant

Robert Half is seeking an ambitious, experienced Staff Accountant for a permanent position within a prestigious Construction/Contractor company. The Staff Accountant will prepare journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance and general ledger reconciliation. During the monthly close, you will also be responsible for many aspects of internal reporting. You will assist in developing and implementing accounting policies. In addition, you will participate in compliance, interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules for the reporting processes. This position is very involved as it will produce Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. Based in the Rolling Meadows, Illinois area, this role is a career-building, multi-faceted opportunity to work for a company that recognizes and rewards hard work.Responsibilities- In-depth experience with reconciling month end balance sheet accounts- Recurring journal entries maintenance and reconciliation- Intercompany billings, transactions, and reconciliation- Support the month end, quarter end and year end closing process, which includes monthly financial close workbook preparation- Contribute to the implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP- Special projects and impromptu reporting, upon request- Survey and organize various financial data, reporting it in a useful and understandable manner- Participate in various department-wide initiatives- Compose thorough journal entries and account reconciliations which include, but are not limited to, cash, prepaid expenses, and payroll- Manage reconciliation, depreciation, and fixed asset ledgers- Maintain capital lease and monthly payment schedules- Assemble analyses for monthly balance sheets and income statements for management reporting- Perform month end close, journal entries, with minimum supervision
