This Assistant Controller role is a long-term contract / temporary to hire employment opportunity located in Attleboro, Massachusetts.
Major responsibilities
- Provide GAAP mentorship for technical accounting, external reporting, and support to the Company
Ensure the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close are completed, as well financial statements
- Supervise and drive external financial audits
- Conduct treasury functions to ensure vendors are paid in a timely manner and cash forecasts are accurate
- Ensure policies for reporting and accounting are properly upheld
- Supply external monthly and quarterly reporting packages to Board meeting decks
- Assist in developing the accounting team, which includes staffing, performance management, and training
This position may also require participation in impromptu analyses/projects, system improvements, and special projects as assigned
- Drive the monthly financial executive package and control book to include budget to actual comparisons by department
- Arrange and manage account reconciliations/analyses for both balance sheet and income statement accounts
Requirements
- Financial reporting experience
- Foundational knowledge in Monthly Financial Statements
- Solid understanding of Microsoft Excel
- Proficiency in general ledger
- Relevant industry experience (preferred)
- Commitment and abilities to meet critical business deadlines
- Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills
- Bachelor degree in Accounting
- Experience in SOX control execution/documentation
- Seizes opportunities to produce results without direct supervision
- High attention to detail and possesses excellent organizational and writing skills
- Ability to multitask effectively
- Related industry experience
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Capacity to anticipate needs and pre-plan work
- Experience with higher level functionality in Microsoft Excel
- Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
