The Controller position will be located in the LAX area and is a contract / temporary to hire engagement. This Controller position is for candidates who can manage the process to ensure that models are correct and are fully accrued each month, verify and hold the operations team accountable to ensure end to end incentive processing, payments, accounting and related financial controls are operating effectively.
Your responsibilities
- Evaluate and observe controls to ensure they are designed and operating effectively in partnership with compliance
- Acquire understanding of key financial results and movements across programs to summarize and discuss with key business partners
Direct budgeting, reporting, and forecasting processes and tools for all accountable programs
- Ongoing review of actual spend against budget and direct necessary actions needed for any expected shortfalls
- Work closely with Treasury to provide timely cash flow forecasts
- Engage with various business partners for various program controllership and FP& A activities like maintaining accuracy of accrual models, appropriate accounting, and participating in true-up activities. Also answer queries from business, area and subsidiary controllers
- Comparison of evidence and qualitative discussion of monthly financial results across global programs to support SOX controls
- Obtain a thorough understanding of essential financial results and movements across programs, then summarize and discuss them with key business partners
Requirements
- Capable of working in office
- Proven communication and negotiation skills, ability to establish trusted advisor/consultant relationships, and capability to influence Executives and Business Decision Makers
- Proven analytical skills with ability to implement solutions and vendor management experience with good organizational skills
- Proven ability to provide leadership across finance team by engaging with different groups around the world via virtual communication
- Ability to manage, lead change and build process improvements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or other relevant field
- CPA and/or CMA preferred
- Comprehension of ERP system offerings is preferred
- 10 years professional accounting and controllership or public accounting and internal controls experience and/or Internal Audit or Controls and Compliance
- Well-founded grasp of Private Equity Firm
- Financial Services experience highly desired
- Solid understanding of month end closings
- Prior experience in private equity or a venture capital firm required
- Technical accounting experience preferred
- NetSuite experience preferred
- Proficiency in fund accounting
