Controller

Description

We are offering an opportunity for a Controller to join our team in the distribution industry, located near Mineola. The Controller will play a crucial role in managing a diverse workload, including taking lead on the monthly/quarterly close activities, budgeting/forecasting, and overseeing & mentoring a team. This role will also involve succession-planning responsibilities for an outgoing Controller, providing an excellent opportunity to learn from an experienced professional.

Responsibilities

• Take charge of monthly and quarterly close activities to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
• Oversee and mentor a team, fostering an environment of continuous learning and improvement.
• Lead budgeting and forecasting activities to aid in strategic decision-making and maintain fiscal control.
• Ensure compliance with US GAAP and J-Sox standards to uphold the integrity of financial information.
• Execute various accounting functions and auditing processes to maintain financial transparency and accuracy.
• Collaborate with other departments to share financial insights and recommendations.
• Participate in succession-planning activities to ensure a smooth transition of responsibilities.
• Engage in continuous professional development to stay abreast of industry changes and advancements.
• Leverage strong leadership skills to direct and oversee the financial operations of the company.
• Utilize problem-solving skills to resolve customer inquiries and issues.
  
  

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Controller role or Assistant Controller, ready to move into a Controllership
• Demonstrated proficiency in Accounting Functions
• Proven experience in Auditing
• Familiarity with Budget Processes
• Knowledge of J-Sox regulations
• Proficient understanding of US GAAP
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or relevant field
• CPA or CMA certification is a plus
• Proficient in MS Office Suite and financial management software
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
• High ethical standards and professionalism in all business interactions
• Collaborative team player with the ability to work independently.
