What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cost Accountant position at Robert Half?
I'm working with a large company in need for some divisional support with their cost function. The Senior Cost Accountant is a critical role responsible for the ongoing analysis of product cost, development of new product cost and margin analysis. This role will work closely with the Controller and finance team, and have oversight on all cost / inventory for the local division.

Major responsibilities
- Monitor the cycle count program and conduct physical inventories
- Manage the implementation of a standard costing methodology for domestic plants
- Prepare regular reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs and analyze manufacturing costs
- Interpret data collected and record detailed results
- Follow Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for financial statements
- Generate reports for management that specify and compare factors that affect prices and profitability of products or services
- Support audits and general ledger preparation
- Generate costs and cost saving ideas based on analysis
- Review changes in goods or services provided in order to determine what effect it has on the cost
- Decide costs of business activity, including raw material purchases, inventory, and labor usage, waste
- Make estimates of new and proposed product costs
- Conduct variance analysis such as Purchase Price to Cost variance, cost revaluation, Invoice to PO price variances and work order variances
- Design a cost accounting system, and manage the documents and records of the organization- Create internal cost audits
