Job Description
The Credit Specialist will work with analysts in carrying out the credit and collection policies and procedures intended to mitigate credit risk while maximizing cash flow.
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Support Credit Analysts by obtaining credit reports and financial statements of customers and update the internal financial review model to calculate key metrics used in determining credit worthiness, financial soundness, and credit risk vital to extending credit
• Communicate credit assurance requirements to counterparties when required such as parent company guarantees, letters of credit and/or other forms of security and collateral
• Monitor overdue balances and communicate with customers as necessary to collect payments while identifying problems that are impeding timely payments and work collaboratively with the customers and internal personnel to resolve those issues.
• Assist in preparing periodic reports for use internally to determine credit strategies
• Participate in a continuous improvement culture by identifying areas of enhancement in existing processes that will improve productivity and effectiveness of the credit department
• Special projects and other duties as assigned
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelors degree in finance or related field preferred
• 3 years experience in commercial credit preferred. Knowledge of petroleum industry a plus.
• Familiarity with corporate financial statements and credit reports such as D& B
• Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills with tenacious and results oriented attitude and a keen attention to details
• High level of proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft applications including Outlook, Word and PowerPoint. Knowledge of SAP and SRA / Right Angle a plus but not required
