We are looking for a Network Engineer based in Costa Mesa, California, to join our telecommunications team. This role involves optimizing our wireless network, deploying new wireless technologies, and improving network resilience. Responsibilities:• Conduct active wireless surveys to identify areas for optimization and potential outsourcing opportunities• Optimize access point (AP) placement based on wireless survey results, including adjusting ceiling heights, removing APs placed behind airducts or other interfering materials, and turning off unnecessary APs causing channel overlap• Identify and resolve issues caused by saturated channels due to rogue devices or SSIDs• Consider the removal of the 2.4ghz band from wireless since all managed devices should be 5ghz capable, and deploy 6ghz band• Increase channel size across APs • Formalize wireless operational procedures to improve troubleshooting and response times• Plan and distribute the Corning ONTs that have wireless access points connected, across multiple SDDPs within the same IDF to improve resilience during an SDDP outage• Collaborate with Corning engineers to enhance the performance of the SDLAN solution deployed to HQ• Deploy a wireless monitoring solution to quickly identify future issues• Utilize skills in Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), Checkpoint, Computer Hardware, Configuration Management, Design, Eigrp, Firewall Technologies, Aruba, Aruba Wireless, Wireless Access, Wireless Access Points, Wireless, WAP - Wireless Application Protocol, Wireless Connectivity, Wireless Controllers, Wireless infrastructure, Wireless LAN, Wireless Networking, Wireless Routers, Wireless Technologies, Wireless Networks, Ekahau, Site Surveys, JIRA, Atlassian Jira, Confluence, Asana.
