Responsibilities
- Handle reconciliation of employee deductions and other relevant liabilities
- Follow established policies and procedures to maintain payroll operations and report changes as necessary
- Reviewing and verifying source documents
- Help payroll manage all internal and external audits
- Compile summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages as part of report preparation
- Protect confidential payroll operation information and maintain employee confidence
- Collect and analyze information including resolving payroll discrepancies
- Certify compliance with federal and state regulations and guidelines
- Manage payroll information requests and questions
- Handle payroll record updates by keeping changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job title and department/division transfers
- Manage other tasks as assigned
- Calculate employer social security, unemployment, and worker compensation payments and employee federal and state income and social security taxes to determine payroll liabilities
- Exercise of proper data management by collecting, calculating, and entering payroll data
- Execute relevant weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports to circulate amongst department heads
Requirements
- Excellent data entry skills
- Prior experience using accounting software
- Proficiency in payroll for over 500 employees
- Expertise in Full Cycle Payroll
- Paylocity experience desired
- Multi-state payroll experience
- Certified Payroll Professional designation favored
- Knowledgeable of basic accounting principles and solid financial acumen
- Outstanding analytical, quantitative and social skills
- Previous experience handling high volume multi-state payroll, billing, licensing, AP, etc.
- 5 years of relevant experience in payroll
- Expertise in federal and state payroll regulations and requirements
- Knowledge of internal controls
- Dependability in Microsoft Office with strong Excel skills in particular
