Payroll Analyst/Manager
A client of ours is looking for a Payroll Analyst/Manager for a contract part-time role. As the Payroll Analyst/Manager you will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll, managing payroll systems, and ensuring compliance with payroll regulations.
Responsibilities of Payroll Analyst/Manager
- Preparing accruals and reconciling sub-ledger to the general ledger
- Ensuring compliance with current government regulations
- Establishing and implementing policies on such matters as garnishments and payroll advancements to employees
- Preparing government reporting
- Lead and manage a team of payroll professionals, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure smooth payroll operations.
- Maintain accurate payroll records, employee data, and documentation in accordance with legal and company requirements
- Address employee inquiries related to payroll, tax withholdings, deductions, and other payroll-related matters promptly and professionally.
- Collaborate with the HR team to ensure accurate processing of employee benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other deductions or contributions
- Ensure compliance with applicable payroll laws, regulations, and company policies.
- Prepare and submit required payroll tax filings, including year-end tax forms (W-2s, 1099s), and respond to payroll-related audits or inquiries
- Manage and maintain the payroll systems, including implementing updates, resolving system issues, and optimizing system functionality.
- Conduct regular audits of payroll records, systems, and processes to ensure accuracy, identify discrepancies, and resolve any issues
- Continuously evaluate and improve payroll processes, systems, and procedures to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
Requirements
Skills/Qualifications of Payroll Analyst/Manager
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting ,Finance, Human Resources, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., CPP(certified payroll professional), FPC) are a plus.
- 5 years’ experience in Payroll
- Proven experience in payroll processing and administration, preferably in a managerial or supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of payroll laws, regulations, tax withholdings, and reporting requirements.
- Experience with payroll systems, software, and timekeeping systems. Proficiency in using payroll software and Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
- Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve payroll discrepancies and issues.
- Solid understanding of HR and payroll practices, including employment taxes, wage and hour laws, and payroll best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with employees, HR team members, and external vendors.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in team management and the ability to lead and motivate a team
