We are looking for a Sr. Cost Accountant to join our team in the Medical Device Manufacturing industry. This role will be primarily based in Arden Hills, Minnesota, with the flexibility for remote work, and is a contract opportunity. As a Sr. Cost Accountant, you'll be tasked with several responsibilities that revolve around cost-accounting, inventory valuation, and manufacturing performance measurement.
Responsibilities
- Assist with cost-accounting duties; this includes, but is not limited to, work order close and variances, cycle count adjustments, standard costing, and cost of goods sold (COGS).
- Conduct inventory valuation and ensure accuracy of manufacturing performance measurements.
- Collaborate with the operations team, providing them with insights on numbers, business implications, and areas with the highest return on investment opportunities.
- Streamline and improve current processes, focusing on reducing complexity.
- Set up proactive metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the team to monitor moving forward.
- Contribute to the implementation of the new system, Epicor, which is expected to change some aspects of how costing is done.
- Enhance the business' ability to examine variances; for instance, measuring and understanding scrap and labor efficiencies are currently challenging.
- Employ your cost accounting experience to improve processes and systems.
- Utilize your skills in Cost Accounting, Cost Analysis, Standard Costing, Cost Variance, Variance Analysis, Inventory Analysis, and Manufacturing Cost Accounting.
- Solid understanding and practical experience in Cost Accounting
- Proficiency in Cost Analysis and its related techniques
- Familiarity with Standard Costing procedures and practices
- Experience in Cost Variance identification and management
- Proficiency in Variance Analysis and its application in business decision-making
- Experience in Inventory Analysis in a manufacturing environment
- Understanding of the Manufacturing industry and its cost structures
- Practical experience in Manufacturing Cost Accounting and its relevance in business operations
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Professional certification such as CPA or CMA is preferred
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team as well as independently
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions based on data
- High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
