The responsibilities of the Staff Accountant include preparing journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation. During the monthly close, you'll have responsibility over many aspects of internal reporting. Your duties will also include participating in compliance, reviewing schedules for the reporting processes, and staying connected with our external auditors throughout quarterly reviews and annual audits. The majority of time spent in this position involves producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. Key responsibilities
- Carry out fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
- Support capital lease and monthly payment schedules
- Maintain intricate journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll
- Help with the implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
- Conduct month end close, journal entries, without supervision
- Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as needed
- Be a part of various initiatives spanning multiple departments
- Commentate on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a useful and understandable manner
- Assist in monthly financial close workbook preparation, including annual closing process
- Oversee the creation of monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for reporting to management
Requirements
- Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and constantly changing company environment
- Recent and relevant accounting experience
- BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
- Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills required
- Self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills
- Candidate must possess first-rate analytical, quantitative and social skills
- Spreadsheet and database capabilities
- Attention to detail and ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
- Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases
- Well-founded grasp of NetSuite
- Practical knowledge of QuickBooks
- Quality experience with SAP
- General familiarity with Oracle
- Proven knowledge of month end closings
- Journal entries experience highly desired
- Expertise in Accounts Receivable (AR)
- General ledger experience
- Solid understanding of Accounts Payable (AP)
- Strong familiarity with bank reconciliations
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Proficient in ERP systems
