An up-and-coming firm in the Hotels industry has teamed up with Robert Half to find an efficient Staff Accountant to join their team. In this position, the Staff Accountant prepares journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation. You'll also be responsible for various aspects of internal reporting during the monthly close. You will also participate in compliance, interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and look over schedules for the reporting processes. This position involves a good deal of time spent on producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. This multi-faceted, challenging short-term contract / temporary opportunity is at a Palm Springs, California based company where effort is rewarded and the environment is thriving.
Your responsibilities
- Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as requested
- Carry out fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
- Oversee the creation of monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for reporting to management
- Produce complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll
- Assist in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation
- Help with the implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
- Take part in various department-wide initiatives
- Complete month end close, journal entries, without supervision
- Maintain capital lease and monthly payment schedules
- Analyze and coordinate a variety of financial data, and report it in a useful and understandable manner
Requirements
- Self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills
- Candidate must possess first-rate analytical, quantitative and social skills
- Bank reconciliations experience
- Foundational knowledge in journal entries
- Accounts Payable (AP) experience
- General ledger experience
- Spreadsheet and database capabilities
- Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills
- Recent and relevant accounting experience
- Competent with spreadsheets and databases
- High attention to detail and possesses excellent organizational and writing skills
- Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and constantly changing company environment
- Strong organizational skills and a proven ability to meet deadlines
- BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
- Current and relevant ERP system experience
