We are inviting applications for the role of a Senior Tax Accountant for our hospitality industry based client in Spartanburg, South Carolina. The individual will be responsible for managing various tax-related activities across multiple states and entities, including filing of Sales and Use Tax returns, Occupancy Tax returns, and other taxes as necessary. This role involves researching tax issues, interpreting state and local statutes, and providing guidance based on knowledge of tax laws and regulations.Responsibilities:• Calculate and file Sales and Use Tax returns for multiple entities across various states.• Track and pay Property Taxes for numerous properties in different states.• Calculate and file Occupancy Tax returns for operating hotels.• Calculate and file other taxes as needed, such as gross receipts tax, excise tax, business & occupation tax.• Research tax issues arising from collection rate and exemption allowance discrepancies.• Interpret and comply with state and local statutes, regulations, and legislation.• Provide guidance to Tax Accountant and Hotel Management based on a thorough understanding of tax laws and regulations.• Manage and validate exemption certificates.• Prepare for and assist with sales and use tax audits.• Maintain and update our tax service setup to ensure compliance with applicable state and local tax laws.• Evaluate processes and procedures to increase efficiency and tax compliance.• Assist with the reconciliation of tax-related general ledger accounts.
