Oversees and directs the activities of a software development function for software components, applications, enhancements and new products. This position oversees the analysis, design, programming, debugging and modification of computer programs for commercial or end user applications. Analyzes and investigates applications engineering tasks and prepares design specifications, analysis and recommendations. Interacts with project managers, marketing, sales and users to define application requirements and/or necessary modifications. May also have responsibility for testing and documentation. Selects, develops and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
Your key responsibilities
Lead software development of the instrument, assay software, and R&D software tools including design, architecture and implementation of complex internationalized software that controls optical, fluidic, acoustic, electronic, and mechanical interfaces.
Coordinate with hardware and consumable teams from specification to manufacturing.
Select and manage contract design houses and manage their deliverables, milestones, and testing efforts.
Conceive of and design flexible modular system architectures that support a robust multigenerational product platform.
Plan, manage, and execute assigned development-related projects utilizing established best practices and/or innovative procedures, applying engineering and scientific knowledge and accumulated experience to complete projects.
Assist with special projects as requested and perform additional duties as required
Who you are
B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
6 years of relevant hands-on experience in design and coding of complex instrumentation software including C, C , C#, Java, SQL, OOA, OOD, USB, FW, and user interface design
8 years of relevant technical experience in software development
3 years of experience in leading/managing direct staff
