Detailed Job Description
The Data Specialist manages, interprets and manipulates complex data sets to produce information to assist with improving processes and communicating requested data for the Office of Career Services and Cooperative Education.
This position will provide department support for data reporting, data quality, data analysis, and data visualization, and data organization.
Data Reporting.

Serves as primary contact for all Career Services and Cooperative Education reporting needs working as a liaison with key internal and external stakeholders.

Responsible for assessing data requests and extracting, organizing, and providing requested data to stakeholders such as outcomes data, hiring data, salary information, donor data, etc.

Ensures all data being shared is correct and consistently collected, analyzed, and reported.

Replies to questions on data collection process and reporting.
Data Quality.

Reviews data to ensure accuracy.

Works to set consistent standards and processes for how data is collected, stored, and extracted.

Troubleshoots data discrepancies. Documents data processes and standards.

Monitors systems updates and how that impacts changes to how data needs to be collected, stored, analyzed, and presented.
Data Analysis.

Analyzes and present data so that stakeholders can have a full understanding of context and trends.

Develops, administers, and analyzes surveys for career fairs, other events, and coordinator-student appointments.
- Suggests data-informed process and/or business improvements based on analysis.
Data Visualization.

Develops requested dashboards from key stakeholders.

Assesses requests and imports data into data visualization software and creates visuals to display requested data.

Ensures dashboard data is being accurately read in from the data warehouse.
Data Organization.

Creates and maintains files that allow for data to be pulled by a variety of criteria over a single or multi-year period.

Minimum Qualifications
Education/Experience:

2 years experience in data analytics, information management, or decision support

Bachelors degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, Statistics, Analytics, or related discipline
