Detailed Job Description
This is an on-campus position. Occasional weekend and evening hours and extended hours during implementation of summer camp required. Must be able to participate in K-12 outreach activities which may involve standing or sitting for long periods, providing campus tours, and lifting supplies up to 25 lbs

The responsibilities of this position include:
  • Provide informed and courteous support to staff, students, partners, program participants and parents to answer questions and disseminate information regarding RIT K-12 and its initiatives.
  • Represent RIT K-12 and its initiatives at events in the community. Design and implement hands-on activities for K-12 school-based STEM and career days.
  • Collaborate with RIT faculty, staff, and students to design campus field trips, tours, and experiences for visiting K-12 school groups and youth organizations. Recruit and train student employees and RIT community volunteers to support these programs. Coordinate and participate in the implementation of campus experiences. Lead tours and events as needed.
  • Design, coordinate, and implement revenue-generating enrichment opportunities (after-school, vacation, and Saturday) for youth to spark interest and engagement in RIT areas of interest and to expose youth to RIT culture and educational pathways.
  • Assist the Director in all areas of planning and development of Camp Tiger, RIT's oldest and largest summer day camp, to include recruitment of participants and staff. Coordinate day-to-day camp operations. Assist the Director in the planning and implementation of summer residential youth programs.
  • Be a consistent and positive advocate for educational and career pathways for youth from all backgrounds and at all educational levels.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of RIT programs, initiatives, and campus assets in order to curate both comprehensive and niche programming for youth.
  • Support youth protection processes for the university, assisting the Director of Youth Protection in providing trainings as needed.
  • Foster collaborations in support of RIT K-12 programs.
  • Provide support to RIT K-12 events as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Department/College Description
RIT K-12 works in collaboration with all divisions at RIT to build connections between the college and the K-12 community (youth, teachers, parents, schools). This is accomplished through a portfolio of initiatives including customized campus visits, onetime hands-on experiences, ongoing grant-funded programs facilitated in partnership with area schools, strategic partnerships with K-12 schools, broader impact efforts designed with RIT faculty, internships and career development programs, and summer camps. The outreach provided by the RIT K-12 aims to increase college-going attitudes, to spark interest in RITs areas of study, and to motivate youth to consider RIT as an eventual fit for college.


Minimum Qualifications
Education/Experience:
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience.
  • 1 year of experience in the design and delivery of programming for K-12 youth.
Skills:
  • Experience in the design and delivery of K-12 programs.
  • Experience in event planning.
  • Experience with youth summer camps.
  • Knowledge of college-readiness curriculums, including soft skill development.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills; must be adept at communicating with audiences of all backgrounds and education levels.
  • Excellent customer service.
  • Positive attitude towards youth, growth mindset.
  • Values and supports individual differences. Able to work with diverse populations.
  • Values transparency, accountability, and communication. Embraces a team attitude.
  • Ability to work independently, managing and prioritizing multiple demands. Knows when to elevate issues.
  • Attention to detail in all responsibilities
  • Flexibility and willingness to assume new tasks or special projects as requested
