Precision Glass Molding:
Precision Glass Molding is a unique lens manufacturing technology in the optics industry. As opposed to the traditional method of grinding and polishing a lens, we use high temperature and pressure to transform a simple lens blank made from optical grade glass, into a more complex lens. The molding takes place within a specialized machine in a clean, temperature-controlled environment.
Summary of Essential Job Duties:
The person hired for this position will go through a training period and then be responsible for:
- Loading and unloading the glass molding press
- Keeping track of daily production totals and data
- Performing basic lens inspection
- Taking mechanical measurements (micrometers)
- Loading lenses into trays
- Maintaining a clean working environment

- Basic computer skills
- Previous Optical Experience a plus but not required
Additional information:
- The job may involve prolong periods of sitting/standing
- Involves the use of a small amount of solvents
- Highly repetitive work, usually in a fixed body position for a sustained period of time
- Generally works in a clean environment and works to maintain the environment as such
- Requires initiative and mental concentration to learn new skills and techniques
- Safety Glasses are required
- Exercises independent judgment when inspecting parts acceptability for further operations
- Follows procedures for all jobs
- May require area specific safety training
- May involve prolonged periods of magnified inspection (eye strain)
- A shift (5 am - 3:15 pm)
- B shift (3:15pm - 1:45 am) 60 day training on A shift required prior to going on B shift
Language Skills:
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex documents. Ability to communicate effectively to team members and management.
Mathematical Skills:
- Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts.

- Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp.

- May work at different workstations as production needs require, or shift from one station to another, during the production process.
