Rock Creek Country Club is a private, 18-hole golf course located in Portland, Oregon. Our club has served as a fixture in the local community for over 80 years and is not the “typical” country club. We pride ourselves on being down-to-earth, professional and offer a strong sense of community. The clubhouse has a bar and grill for dining, as well as indoor spaces that provide an elegant setting for member events. Other amenities include a golf simulator, driving range, short game practice area, putting green and pickleball coming in the spring of 2024.
The golf program offers weekly clubs for its members, 4 annual private tournaments and numerous external ones and active clubs. The golf staff is currently comprised of a Golf Operations Manager, two PGA Golf Professionals, and a full-time Pro Shop lead, part-timers, outside service staff and our maintenance crew.
POSITION TITLE: Head PGA Golf Professional
STATUS: Salaried
REPORTS TO: Director of Golf Operations, General Manager
The Head Golf Professional is responsible for promoting the game of golf through operational structure and programming that provides a first-class environment for Members and Guests. The ideal candidate will be personable and have a strong grasp of how to drive golf sales, lead and manage a team as well as tournament planning and execution.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage day-to-day golf operations, ensuring a seamless and efficient experience for members and guests
- Conduct individual and group lessons to enhance the skills and enjoyment of the game for members and guests
- Address member and guest inquiries, concerns, and feedback in a professional and timely manner
- Recruit, hire, train, motivate, and supervise all golf department staff
- Manage inventory, pricing, and sales in the pro shop, ensuring a well-stocked and attractive retail environment
- Plan, organize, and execute golf tournaments, events, and leagues to enhance the social and competitive aspects of the club
- Supervise the pro shop staff, providing leadership and guidance to maintain a positive and customer-focused atmosphere.
- Ensure the Club’s financial goals and objectives are being achieved
- Develop and implement instructional programs and lessons for golfers of all skill levels, including juniors
- Collaborate with the course superintendent to ensure the course is maintained to the highest standards, providing valuable input on course setup and conditions.
Minimum Qualifications:
- PGA of America-Class A membership
- Bachelors degree preferred
- 5 years Head Golf Professional experience
- Proven track record of team management, organizational, and coaching skills
- Proven sales track record and strong grasp of marketing principles
- Skilled instructor, with a desire to learn new techniques and grow programs
