DUTIES: The Family Support Partner (FSP) is a member of the Community Based Behavioral Health and Prevention Services team and is responsible for providing education and support to families with youth, adolescents and young adults with mental health needs and help them to negotiate their way through the social, legal, educational and health care systems. The FSP, after training and orientation, will provide family-to-family support, education, advocacy, coaching, information, referrals, and follow-up to families seeking assistance
The employee reports directly to the Child and Adolescent Community Based Services Manager for supervision. In carrying out the assigned position responsibilities the employee is required to exercise sound judgment, communicate clearly orally and in writing, follow established policies and procedures, demonstrate problem-solving skills, ensure the safety of clients participating in program activities, and maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent. Certification as a Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) preferred. Required within six months of hire. Personal, lived experience as a primary caregiver of a youth, adolescent or young adult who has/had mental health needs is required. Prior experience assisting other families to obtain appropriate services and supports for their child and family members is desirable.
Must possess a valid VA driver’s license and maintain a safe driving record according to RACS policies.
