Description
SCOPE OF ROLE:
The Packaging Engineer is a critical knowledge worker at Rocket Industrial, acting as both a solutions consultant to our sales staff and customers, and the curator of appropriate solutions. This individual will provide technical expertise to the sales team by identifying, designing, testing, and presenting custom solutions to our customers. The Packaging Engineer will have a thorough understanding of the competition and how we can best differentiate ourselves.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Identify and pursue solutions from insights that provide the most value to our clients
- Increase the profitability of existing products
- Design, develop and source new products and vendors
- Negotiate terms, freight, pricing and exclusivity agreements with vendors
- Develop and maintain strong vendor relationships
- Make regular end-user calls to facilitate sales and show technical expertise
- Provide training to sales reps as needed
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA’s):
- Bachelor of Science degree in Packaging
- Knowledge of ISTA testing and custom test standards
- Test Report creation
- Experience in Corrugated / Folding Carton design software, preferred
- Experience with Kongsberg cutting table, preferred
