SPACE SYSTEMS
Rocket Lab’s Space Systems team is responsible for every satellite and satellite component made by Rocket Lab: from complete satellites destined for missions to the Moon and Mars, to the individual components and subsystems that make up a satellite like solar panels, flight software, reaction wheels and star trackers, separation systems, radios, and more. Our Space Systems team is made up of engineers, technicians, and designers who design, create, and put together our own satellites for missions across the commercial, government, and defense sectors, or who build and assemble satellite hardware and software that supports other satellite missions.
QUALITY ENGINEER I
As a Quality Engineer I based at Rocket Lab's site in Silver Springs, Maryland, you will evaluate and enhance organizational processes to deliver product excellence. Key responsibilities include assessing product quality, gathering customer feedback, producing quality reports, identifying improvement opportunities, relationship building across departments, and ensuring robust quality standards. This role will collaborate cross-functionally to optimize quality and efficiencies across the product lifecycle.
WHAT YOU'LL GET TO DO:
- Execute, and develop improvements for quality assurance process of incoming parts
- Analyze quality metrics, identify improvements, and enhance systems to meet quality goals
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for quality issues
- Perform periodic quality system audits
- Recommend initiatives to improve product and system quality
- Collaborate with customers on quality concerns
- Collaborate with Design Engineers, and Supplier Quality Engineer on projects
YOU'LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Knowledge of DFMEA, PFMEA, 8D, and DFM
THESE QUALIFICATIONS WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE:
- 1 years of experience in a production/manufacturing environment
- Mechanical Engineering degree
- Lean/six sigma experience
- Developing KPI’s for performance reporting
- Knowledge of automated inspection tools such as Vision Systems/CMM
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
- Regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, operate computer keyboard and controls, and communicate verbally and in writing.
- Must be physically able to commute to buildings
- Occasional exposure to dust, fumes and moderate levels of noise.
