POSITION SPECIFICS
Title: RPD Vocational Apprenticeship Program Youth Trainee
Status: Part Time- Seasonal
Location: Various
Reports To: Youth Sports Supervisor
Starting Rate: $15.00
Season & Hours: Seasonal- Varies, Evenings and Saturday’s 20-40 Hours Per Week
Position Description:In this position you will learn gain general knowledge in various aspects of the trades and Rockford Park District operations. You will learn to assist and perform facility preventative maintenance and various projects throughout the district. You will train and work with members of local trade agencies to better understand what it takes to perform their jobs smoothly and safely. You will also learn about what it takes to become a trade apprentice, participate in hands-on construction activities, and learn more about a career in the trades.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include the following. Other duties may be assigned Operational Excellence
MUST attend all training sessions; maintenance/safety trainings, violence prevention and leadership development sessions
Assist with areas programs, special events, and rentals. Set up and tear down, erecting and disassembling tents, hauling bleachers, garbage cans, etc.
Performs routine daily housekeeping and cleaning activities, including but not limited to: cleaning and sanitizing tables, surfaces, and equipment; vacuuming all carpeted areas; sweeping floors; assist in cleaning restrooms and emptying trash
Receives and completes daily work orders.
Assists in daily operations including but not limited to: participant check-ins, distribution of lunches and snacks, room and activity setup, opening and closing checklists and other daily documentation
Assist with the supervision of programs, when needed, to include but not limited to: assisting patrons during activities, score-keeping, monitoring use of sports and recreation equipment, monitoring safety and well-being of patrons and customers. Compliance
Attends scheduled weekly staff meetings and training sessions as determined by the facility supervisor and/or full-time supervisor.
Informs facility supervisor of supplies needed
Assesses and informs facility supervisor of site safety concerns in the facility or play area such as: park users, play and recreation equipment, hazards, etc.
Ensures daily documentation occur correctly and on time including but not limited to accident-incident reports, property loss reports, and daily checklists.
Helps enforce program policy and procedures using positive communication with program participants, parents/guardians, and staff.
Maintains a working knowledge of Rockford Park District personnel policies and protocols.
Maintains a working knowledge of Rockford Park District safety procedures. Attend safety training programs and educational in-service trainings as required. Professional Relations
Meets, greets, and communicates with patrons, customers, parents/guardians and co-workers on a daily basis.
Maintain good working relationships with internal and external customers.
Conducts regular check ins and workplace visits with program participants
Conducts regular check ins with workplace supervisors
Assist customers and program participants as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must be at least 16 years of age and must be able to work evenings, and weekends
