General Definition of Work
Performs difficult advanced technical work augmenting the primary health care physician in making medical diagnosis and dispensing medical treatment, maintaining files and records, preparing reports, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Public Health Nursing Director.

Provides medical care to adults who present with Medication for Opioid Use Disorder treatment program
Perform initial assessment and on-going care of patients' medical, physical and psychosocial status.
Delivery of Medication for Opioid Use Disorder treatment as appropriate.
Elicits medical and social history and records on charts.
Performs medical examinations.
Analyzes clinical data and collaborate with Supervising Physician, if needed, to formulate a plan of care.
Prescribes appropriate medications under approved formulary according to established protocol and/or consultation.
Implements client teaching activities to include the prescribed plan of treatment of illness, importance of compliance to the medical regimen, and the prevention of complications and/or the spread of disease.
Coordinates interdisciplinary activities when necessary such as referral to other specialty areas.
Refers client to the supervising physician or other specialist for further evaluation and treatment, as indicated.
Schedules and conducts follow-up visits, as appropriate.
Orders and interprets appropriate laboratory tests to supplement the complete physical exam and make appropriate diagnosis.
Participates in continuing education activities for enhancement of knowledge and skills.
Maintains medical records in accordance with quality assurance standards; assists with chart audits as needed.
Participates in health fairs.
Prepares reports and other types of correspondence; maintains files and records.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Comprehensive knowledge of County and Department policies and procedures; comprehensive knowledge of applicable State laws, rules and regulations governing medical care; comprehensive knowledge of techniques of interviewing, medical and relevant history taking; knowledge of Opioid Treatment Programs (OTP's) and administration practices for Medication for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD); knowledge of federal regulations surrounding OPTs; comprehensive knowledge of the principles and practices of general medicine and disease states; thorough knowledge of health appraisal techniques and therapeutic procedures; thorough knowledge of medications; thorough knowledge in preparing reports and other types of correspondence; thorough knowledge in the use of standard office equipment and associated software (e.g. Patagonia software); comprehensive knowledge in the use of the equipment required for the position; ability to make arithmetic computations; ability to compute rates, ratios and percentages; ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, physicians and associates.

Physical Requirements
This work requires the frequent exertion of up to 10 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up to 25 pounds of force; work regularly requires standing, walking, speaking or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel, reaching with hands and arms, tasting or smelling and repetitive motions, frequently requires lifting and occasionally requires sitting, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling and pushing or pulling; work requires close vision, distance vision, ability to adjust focus, depth perception, color perception, night vision and peripheral vision; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly or quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, using of measuring devices, assembly or fabrication of parts within arm’s-length, operating machines, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities; work frequently requires exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals and exposure to blood borne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment and occasionally requires working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, exposure to the risk of electrical shock and wearing a self-contained breathing apparatus; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).Education and Experience
Master's degree with coursework in public health, nursing, or related field and considerable experience working as a nurse practitioner or physician assistant, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Requirements
Possession of NP and RN or Physician Assistant licensure upon hire.
Valid driver's licenseSupplemental Information
Note: In accordance with State mandates and the Rockingham County Emergency Operations Plan, Rockingham County Health and Human Services staff from the Divisions of Social Services, Public Health and Integrated Health are required to staff emergency shelters during times of disaster. Please be advised that every staff person is eligible to be assigned to an emergency shelter or Emergency Operations Center.
