Job Summary
Responsible for submitting and maintaining all behavioral health authorizations to all contracted Medicaid and private insurance companies as required. This position is also responsible for submitting all claims to Medicaid and private insurance companies as well as upkeep of all billing and authorization records.

Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Basic knowledge of Behavioral Health coding (ICD-10) required.
- Previous experience in Mental/Behavioral Health Billing and Authorizations required.
- Strong understanding of insurance billing for mental/behavioral health, including billing primary and secondary insurance, Medicaid, insurance rules, insurance audits and insurance denials.
- Strong understanding of authorizations procedures to private and Medicaid companies.
- Requires excellent independent judgment and prudent decision-making skills.
- Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret rules, regulations and procedures.
- Ability to communicate with clients/families to obtain data, and to explain and interpret rules, regulations and procedures.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Basic knowledge of MS Office.
- Ensure client demographics and insurance information is accurate and up to date.
- Electronically submit authorizations to insurance companies, keep current on all client authorizations.
- Obtain paperwork from appropriate staff in order to submit for authorizations.
- Maintain Insurance and Claims files.
- Maintain client confidentiality per HIPAA privacy rule regulations.
- Communicate issues, info and support needs to Operations Manager.
- Provide support to clients regarding insurance and authorization issues.
- Electronically submit claims to insurance companies, keep current on all claims.
- Investigate, resubmit and appeal any denial claims and authorizations.
- Provide requested reports to support billing to OM, payroll, CEO, accountant, etc.
- Participates in team meetings.
- Other tasks as needed given by CEO and Operations Manager.
