Rocky Mountain Deaf School is seeking individuals as Guest Educators for the upcoming

Purpose of the Position:

Guest teachers and Classroom support staff are employed on a day-to-day basis. The schedule for the day
will match the staff members workday for which they are covering. Guest Educators will be responsible to
perform all teacher related duties including lunchroom, hall, bus, and playground duties, provide daily
instruction and run the classroom environment in an orderly fashion.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma required; college degree preferred
• Preferred 1 – 3 yr. substitute teaching license issued by CDE
• Certificate in teaching is a plus
• Proficiency in and knowledge of ASL and written English
• Detail oriented and able to follow written and/or instructions in ASL
• Able to communicate effectively with other personnel and faculty
• Flexible work schedule
• Ability to work in a team
• Able to cultivate relationships with pupils in a brief time period
• Confidence and capability in giving instruction in the absence of the regular teacher
• Must be Colorado Resident

Job Performance Responsibilities:

• Maintain order with the students assigned for supervision
• Diaper, bathroom, and perform health tasks as assigned
• Tutor students on lessons determined by the teacher
• Help to maintain a positive classroom environment
• Help to maintain order on the bus if assigned
• Monitor students for health problems if assigned
• Assist students with lessons and assignments in regular classrooms as assigned
• Assist teacher with organizational needs in the classroom
• Maintain accurate records regarding students
• Work as a member of the team with the teacher
• Maintains confidentiality
• Willing to obtain added training
• Supervision of students in halls and playground behavior
