What The Role Delivers
The Business Director will drive the sales of bulk Monomers ($75 million to $150 million) in the assigned sales region. The Business Director will develop professional, multi-level relationships with business professionals in the assigned accounts ranging from procurement managers to owners and business leadership. This role will also be negotiating contracts (to secure most of the sales volume for which they are responsible) ensuring the contracts meet customer needs, optimize margins and minimize risks for Roehm. Additionally, this position is responsible for negotiating and managing prices and commercial terms, and as needed, will coordinate services and support with supply chain planning, logistics, customer service, quality control and credit functions within Roehm.

What You Will Do
- Develop professional multi-level relationships with bulk monomer accounts in the assigned region. Communicate regularly with each account including making in person visits several times per year. Gain an intimate knowledge of the customers business needs. Become a valued and trusted business partner for the supply of bulk monomers and an informed source of market and industry information. Document customer contacts and information in CRM.
- Grow sales volume and profitability of existing business and identify and close new profitable business. Meet the annually assigned targets for volume and CM1.
- Negotiate supply contracts. Stive to optimize value for Roehm (CM1, NWC, cost-to-serve, reduced complexity) while meeting customer needs. Minimize business risk’s by ensuring volume commitments are defined and within Roehm’s capabilities and that warranties and liabilities are clearly understood, within acceptable limits and approved. Follow the Roehm process for contract approvals and signatures.
- Manage customer pricing and commercial terms. Align price and commercial term changes with regional business management. For global accounts, be aware of pricing and commercial terms in other regions and take this into consideration as needed. Ensure pricing is accurately documented and updated monthly.
- Provide accurate monthly forecasts (for volume and pricing) for all products and assigned accounts. Input forecast volumes into APO according to the specified monthly schedule.
- Collect market volume information. Annually update consumption figures for all bulk monomer users in the assigned market, region or segment.
- Support marketing initiatives including customer surveys, customer portals, social media, digitization, customer segmentation, etc.
- Ensure product or service failures are documented in the quality system and work with quality management and the support functions to ensure root causes are identified, corrected and reported back to customers.
- Stay informed on key raw materials costs and how they influence pricing both for Roehm and the competition. Understand global bulk monomer market dynamics and how this affects pricing and availability of monomers.
- Support the finance department in achieving on time payment of customer invoices.
- Collect competitive information on operational issues, terminal locations, manufacturing locations, product sourcing, commercial personnel, etc.
- Conduct all activities in accordance with anti-competition rules. Abide by all laws and regulations. Follow the Roehm Code of conduct.
- Conduct all business safety. Ensure your work areas and activity follow good industrial hygiene practices. Ensure customers are adequately informed of safe handling practices for all products they purchase from Roehm. Proactively address any safety, industrial hygiene or material handling concerns.
- Up to 60% travel within North America. Infrequent trips to Europe (eg once per year) When not travelling working from a home office.
- Bachelor‘s degree in science and or business required. MBA preferred.
- 5-10 years of commercial experience in the chemical industry, experience with commodity chemicals a plus.
- Must be proficient in the use of Excel, PowerPoint, Word, CRM software. SAP experience not necessary but beneficial.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; proficiency in English language.
- Strong organization and time management skills.
