POSITION SUMMARY:
The Department of Technology and Justice Studies invites applicants for 12-month full-time staff position of Coordinator of STEM Community Outreach.
PRIMARY DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Coordinate community outreach logistics at local K-12 schools and non-profit organizations while fostering working relationships with administration, office staff, teachers, and parents of the same.
- Actively market and promote the TJS STEM outreach efforts to enroll diverse groups of students throughout the academic year
- Build program awareness through social media, web, and print materials in partnership with RSU marketing staff.
- Create, purchase, develop, and maintain detailed inventory and organizational system for all materials, equipment, and supplies.
- Maintain and continue to develop a comprehensive curriculum in STEM education for all ages of learners.
- Ensure curriculum content is engaging, student-centered, inquiry-based, scientifically accurate, and age-appropriate.
- Plan and coordinate field trips to meet with adult professional STEM mentors.
- Design and conduct weeklong technology-related summer camps.
- Document student attendance, pre- and post- unit assessment and interest surveys, and parent and teacher survey data while maintaining effective systems for tracking and evaluating data. Use data to influence future program decisions.
- Teach and/or co-teach outreach efforts.
- Establish a safe, healthy, supportive, and collaborative learning environment for students and instructors.
- Maintain a personal knowledge of the evolving STEM education theory and trends, hands-on and inquiry-based education, and other pertinent educational philosophy and use this to continue to grow and develop TJS community outreach efforts.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Prolonged sitting & standing;
- Ability to lift items up to 50 pounds.
REPORTS TO: Department Head of Technology and Justice Studies
HOURS: Regular staff hours (M-F, 8AM-5PM) to include occasional evening and weekends
POSITION: FLSA Exempt

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Candidates must provide evidence of effective applied learning teaching, event planning/execution, and social media management.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree is required
- Relevant work-related experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's degree
- Previous STEM Coordinator experience;
- STEM or business degree.
