Purpose Of Job

The Systems Administrator is a non-supervisory, individual contributor role responsible for ensuring the stable operation of the in-house computer network. This includes installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all network hardware, software, and communication links. The position is also responsible for analyzing and resolving end-user hardware and software computer issues in a timely and accurate fashion and for providing end user training.

Job Duties

Acquisition & Deployment

  • Oversee installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of end user workstation hardware, software, and peripheral devices.
  • Interact with vendors and contractors, when necessary, for network services.
  • Manage, configure, and maintain Office 365, Exchange Online, and Microsoft Teams.
  • Support Microsoft Azure cloud environment.
  • Support Nutanix AHV environment.
  • Administer monthly patch updates using System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM).
  • Provide Level 2 support escalations for help desk.
  • Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards in support of network procurement and development efforts.
  • Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.
  • Administer and maintain end user accounts, permissions, and access rights.
  • Monitor and test network performance, providing network performance statistics and reports.
  • Provide guidance to junior members of the team.
  • Perform occasional inspection of cables in floors and ceilings.
  • Manage being on call a maximum of 10 days per month.

  • Ensure prompt and regular attendance.
  • Perform other appropriate duties as may be assigned by Management.
  • Travel as business needs may require.

Education

  • High school diploma/equivalent is minimally required.

Experience

  • A university degree in the field of Computer Science or a related Information Technology-based field and/or 3 years of relevant work experience is required.

Other Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Competencies

  • Certifications in A and Network are highly preferred.
  • Azure or other Microsoft Professional Certifications are highly preferred.
  • Possess and maintain working knowledge of: Office 365, Exchange Online, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Azure cloud, Nutanix AHV, and other business systems.
  • Scripting and Automation experience with PowerShell.
  • Knowledge and experience with Windows Internet Information Services (IIS).
  • Knowledge of security certificates.
  • Strong written, oral, and listening communication skills.
  • Ability to conduct research into networking issues and products as required.
  • Ability to present ideas and concepts in user-friendly language.
  • Demonstrate self-motivation, self-direction, and initiative.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail.
  • Demonstrate analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Demonstrate strong customer service orientation.
  • Prior work experience in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Ability to work comfortably in a seated position for extended periods of time.
  • Possesses dexterity of hands and fingers to operate equipment such as computer keyboard, mouse, power tools, and to handle computer components.
  • Ability to perform occasional inspection of cables in floors and ceilings.
  • Ability to lift and transport moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals.
  • Able to work with users at any level within the organization, including executives.
  • Must have and continually maintain a valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
