Position Overview
The Facilities Technician is responsible for installing, inspecting, adjusting, and repairing equipment while following safety rules and regulations. You will be required to maintain all equipment to highest standards and be responsive to production needs and equipment failures. The incumbent will work as part of a team but would routinely perform work independently and maintain a high level of accuracy and safety while performing their duties.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Install, assemble, and test new machines and equipment
- Schedule and perform routine preventative maintenance and service for each piece of equipment
- Inspect machines regularly for signs of malfunctions, including visual and sound inspections
- Use a variety of power and hand tools to perform job functions
- Complete repairs and parts replacements
- Identify faulty equipment through observation and testing metrics
- Source replacement parts and perform repairs
- Safely power tools, hoists, forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand tools
- Assess the condition of used parts using micrometers, calipers, and specifications
- Maintain parts and tools inventory
- Prepare maintenance reports and summary presentations using daily activity logs, analysis, and trends
- Paint, remodel, refurbish areas as needed
- Making routine plumbing repairs (example: repairing leaks, unplugging toilets, and drains, etc.
- Performing routine carpentry work (example: minor paint jobs, installing doors, door stops, cabinet doors, tile, adjustable shelving, setting forms for concrete, etc.)
- Prepare conference areas for upcoming meetings
- Remove and properly dispose of all recyclable materials
Basic Qualifications
- High School graduate
- 5 years experience as a Maintenance Mechanic
- Valid driver's license
- Able to read, write and speak English
- Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office
- Ability to walk, stand, and lift heavy objects for an extended period of time
- Ability to act competently in emergencies
- Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing trades
Preferred Qualifications
- Successful trade/vocational school completion or an Associate degree in Mechanical/Engineering specialties
- Experience prioritizing and managing multiple assignments concurrently
- Having worked in a fast-paced, start-up environment
- Be able to provide input on best practices and procedures that will drive efficiency
- Strong communication, business, technical, analytical, and planning skills
