Criminal Defense Attorney (Experienced)

NYC Defense Lawyer Jonathan Rosenberg (Rosenberg Law Firm) is hiring a full-time-time criminal defense attorney with experience handling both litigation and writing in the criminal courts. About 1/2 of your job will involve writing motions and analyzing discovery; the other 1/2 will involve court appearances and litigation.

The position will be well-compensated with excellent health insurance benefits (Blue Cross Blue Shield Platinum). The position is probationary for the first three months; after that time period, you will receive retirement, health insurance, dental, and an assigned office in the law firm. We are seeking a long-term associate commitment who will grow with the practice.

After your first year, you will receive an automatic raise in salary, exceeding inflation, with bonuses for client sales and retention.

If you're competent, reliable, and trustworthy in your advocacy, and you know how to work with a team of attorneys in keeping a calendar and tracking cases, you will fit well into this position.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Admitted to Practice in New York
• Exceptional timeliness, organization, and communication skills
• Experience trying -- as lead counsel, or solo -- at least 1 criminal case to verdict in New York
• Experience writing motions in New York courts; strong research skills
• Comfort handling a New York defense file from arraignment to disposition in all categories of defense
• If you want to practice defense law to "help marginalized groups of people" then you should apply for a position with Legal Aid or Brooklyn Defenders. If you are looking to uphold the Constitution through private advocacy in favor of the accused versus the state, then you should apply within.

You have to be willing to answer your phone at all reasonable hours; I will never call you late at night or on a Saturday arraignment short notice.
