Position Title: Materials Planning Manager
Reports to: Director of Sales, Inventory and Operations Planning

The Materials Planning Manager is responsible for overseeing the execution of daily raw material planning activities with the objective of ensuring raw material availability to meet organizational financial and customer service objectives. This role will ensure proper communication of material requirements across both internal and external customers and coordinate between internal functions to ensure material availability through integrated supply chain planning. This role will also lead materials management projects and initiatives and serve as the lead for new product launches.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Management:
Lead, train, and motivate team of material planners focused on ensuring the right quantity of materials at the right time.
Set clear performance expectations, establish key performance indicators (KPIs), and conduct regular performance reviews.
Foster a positive work environment, encourage teamwork, and promote professional development.
Materials Management:
Develop and implement comprehensive materials planning strategies to support production schedules.
Ensures use of MRP/ERP tools to ensure integrated planning.
Manage inventory levels through effective ordering practices, stocking polices, and obsolescence management.
Ensure availability of raw materials while meeting financial targets for materials inventory, carrying costs and spending.
Responsible for the material shortage escalation process, serves as escalation point when material planners are not able to resolve issues.
Supplier Management:
Ensure compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements for all materials and ingredients, collaborating with quality assurance and procurement teams to address any issues related to product quality or safety.
Development, implement, and continuously improve metrics on supplier performance regarding on time delivery and quality performance.
Develop and implement strategies to meet and improve supplier reliability and maximize available supply with increased inventory turns.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with cross-functional teams, including procurement, production, logistics, and finance, to understand production requirements, capacity constraints, and lead times, and adjust materials planning activities accordingly to ensure seamless production flow aligned with overall business objectives and priorities.
Leads projects related to materials management to support new product launches and cross functional continuous improvement initiatives.
Continuous Improvement:
Continuously evaluate and optimize materials planning processes and systems to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and reliability, leveraging technology and best practices to drive improvements in inventory management and supply chain performance.
Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, automate tasks, and implement technology solutions to optimize operations.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
Develop, maintain, and enhance metrics and KPIs for materials management.
Utilize BI tools to create reports and dashboards.
Generate regular reports and present findings to senior management, highlighting trends, areas for improvement, and customer service performance.
Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Logistics, Business, or a related field.
Proven experience in supply chain management and MRP processes, preferably in the food co-packaging industry.
Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team.
5 years managerial experience in materials management
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
Exceptional problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities.
Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
Proficiency in ERP software, Microsoft AX preferred.
Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and generate meaningful insights.
Knowledge of food manufacturing processes, industry regulations, and quality standards (preferred).
