Key Responsibilities/Essential Job Functions
Serves as IT Infrastructure help desk (including, but not limited to, network, telecommunications, audio/visual, PC, software, and printer requests) for associates throughout the companies. Will be in on-call rotation.
Provides maintenance, installation and administrative support for IT Infrastructure.
Designs, maintains and supports all aspects of telecommunications equipment for users (i.e. local and long distance telecom and cell phones)
Develops and provides training to users.
Surveys performance needs and goals of the companies and its associates. Develops recommendations for infrastructure modifications to meet corporate objectives.
Designs and implements configurations for the telecommunications systems, printers, and PC fleet.
Implements configurations for the network and associated infrastructure (servers, switches, routers, PC’s, printers, cabling, etc.)
Implements, and trains users on IT security procedures regarding the PC fleet and telecommunications systems to safeguard the network from physical harm, viruses, unauthorized users and damage to data.
Supervises outside consultants or part-time PC specialists hired to support specific IT infrastructure projects.
Monitors activities compared to approved budgets.
Researches prospective purchases of IT equipment and software to meet corporate objectives. Makes recommendations and submits to IT Infrastructure Supervisor for review and approval. Submits PO requests, receives shipments and verifies accuracy of invoices.
Maintains inventory of all IT Infrastructure hardware and software. Ensures no software licensing violations occur.
Responsible for data protection through performance of backups of the network servers and the AS/400 per established IT procedures.
Daily use of advanced PC and business computer applications, telephone conferencing and e-mail.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate’s degree in Computer Science, mathematics or related discipline is preferred. High school diploma/GED required.
Minimum 1-2 years’ related experience as a PC Specialist or Infrastructure Technician on a Microsoft network preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office required. Microsoft Certification is a plus.
Must have good verbal and written communications skills. Must be customer service-oriented.
Experience in training users, supporting cell phones preferred.
Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation to work between two facilities.
Must be able to lift 70 pounds, as well as kneel and crawl in tight spaces to install/maintain equipment.
Position will work in both an office environment and a plant that can be very dusty.
Must be able to exercise of independent judgment and ability to work with minimum supervision.
