An international leader in the Food & Beverage Industry has a new opportunity for a Product Development Scientist at their facility located in the Midwestern US.

The Product Development Scientist is responsible for leading all aspects of new product development. This includes product formulation and scale up, managing shelf life studies, test methods development, communication with key suppliers and consultants, new ingredients investigation, and specifications development. This position works with the category business team (Marketing, Operations, Quality, and Engineering) to lead and influence new product development activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:  Responsible for the formulation and shelf-life testing of new product prototypes, data recording and analysis, reporting of results.  Actively participate in the design and execution of manufacturing trials.  Generate and maintain product specifications.  Communicate with other departments supporting new product development and serve as technical lead in category business team meetings.  Track work activities and recommend next steps to Product Development Management team.  Work in close collaboration with all R&D functions in the development and refinement of product performance.  Take a pro-active role in the maintenance and improvement of products based on sensory and/or consumer feedback.

QUALIFICATIONS:  PhD or M.S. and 5 years' experience; B.S. in Food Science, Meat Science or similar.  Experience working with a variety of product types such as meat ingredients, protein, savory, dairy, cheese, citrus, sugars, and grains.  Proficient in English language, both verbal and written.  Willingness and ability to travel approximately 20% annually.  Ability to follow Company policies and procedures.  All applicants for this position must be authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship.
