Located in the heart of North Carolina’s Piedmont, Rowan County is attractively and conveniently nestled between the state’s largest city and its Capitol. The County is currently accepting applications for the position of CPS Social Worker—Part-time. This position investigates or assesses complaints of alleged neglect and abuse of children based on a Multiple Response System (MRS) according to required time frames; engages with families using Family Centered Practice and the Principles of Partnership in order to make a two-level decision regarding the need for ongoing intervention through in-home or out-of-home services; provides expert testimony in court hearings; works in cooperation with law enforcement agencies as required; performs holistic assessments of individual and family dynamics, crisis intervention, and referrals for recommended or needed services including possible placement of children in out-of-home settings; provides quality documentation of all case activity and intervention in a timely manner; and works in crisis situations where decisions may often occur under pressure or in a hostile environment.

Requires a Master’s Degree in Social Work and one year of human services work experience in the areas of case management, assessment and referral, supportive counseling, intervention, psycho-social therapy and treatment planning; or a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work and two years of work experience; or a Bachelor’s Degree in a human service field and three years of work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; a Master’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work with completion of the N.C. Child Welfare Collaborative Program will equal one year of experience credit. Degrees/Coursework must be from an appropriately accredited institution. If degree is not in Social Work, please submit a copy of transcript with application. Bilingual applicants and applicants having completed 72 hours of Pre-Service Training are preferred. A valid driver’s license is required.

Starting Rate $39.00 per hour (commensurate with experience)
