Royal Carolina Corporation, established in 1971, is a full service Rotary Screen and Flexographic Printing, Coating and Finishing Company located in Greensboro, NC.

We are currently seeking an Industrial Process Machine Operator.

The successful candidate will have prior experience with rotary screen print machines, similar printing operations or other large process machines in manufacturing.

Job Summary:

Set-up and operation of rotary print machines to meet customized customer requirements.

Results/Essential Functions include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Maintains efficiency of operations by overseeing entire print operation to include fabric entry, printing, tentering and exit end.
  • Ensures proper pattern set up per technical data sheet by confirming screens are in the right rotation; confirming colors are in the correct position; confirming proper pressures are set; monitoring dryer and curer temperatures for correct settings.
  • Keeps rotary printer in optimum working condition by regularly checking all guiders, head positions, entrance to tenter frame, oven zones, exhaust fans, color pipes, color blades, color pumps and print belt; notifying supervisor, print floor of mechanical problems.
  • Ensures that pattern matches standard by verifying proper execution, repeat, side-to-side, side-to-center, strike throughand overall appearance.
  • Participates in color checks by attending meetings with colorist and quality control to develop solutions to color changes.
  • Oversees breaks for rotary crew by scheduling and monitoring breaks and lunch times for rotary crew to allow minimal downtime.
  • Ensures proper and safe emergency machine shutdown in event of fire by shutting down all fans and power on machine immediately.
  • Maintains safe and clean work environment by following appropriate safety rules, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment and maintaining clean and orderly work area; directing crew to clean during machine downtime for mechanical breakdowns and extended downtime.

Education/Experience/Certification

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Prior experience in a process manufacturing environment.
  • Forklift certification and license.

Skills/Competencies

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Ability to distinguish colors, shades and other printing defects.
  • Ability to make quick and decisive decisions based on best available data.
  • Mechanical aptitude to understand the need for various machine adjustments during production runs and the results of those adjustments.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Works productively with others in a team environment.
  • Ability to provide leadership and direction to team members.
  • Experience operating a forklift.
  • Self-starter.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
