POSITION SUMMARY AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 
The Assistant Controller reports to the VP, Controller and will be an integral contributor to our accounting functions, including our monthly accounting and ledger close cycle, financial reporting, internal control, and business process documentation.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Supervise a team of 3-5 staff members, providing staff development and performance feedback in a professional manner and in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Manage team workload and responsibilities to ensure deliverables are complete and deadlines are met.
  • Perform required G/L account reconciliations, including Balance Sheet and Income Statement accounts
  • Perform monthly bank account reconciliations for all accounts
  • Post assigned journal entries during period and annual closes
  • Review journal entries made by staff accountant and others during period and annual closes
  • Complete quarterly reporting as assigned.
  • Assist VP, Controller in establishing internal controls to prevent inaccuracies in financial statements and in conformance and compliance with U.S. GAAP and other statutory requirements
  • Participate in various U.S. statutory tax requirements, such as income, real and personal property, franchise, value-added taxes, and sales and use taxes, as requested
  • Oversee corporate card and expense programs
  • Serve as administrator for various software applications
  • Assist with the annual financial audit, preparing schedules as requested by external auditors, and responding to auditor inquiries
  • Research, review and recommend viable opportunities to improve, automate, and streamline relevant functions of the accounting department and the company
  • Coordinate projects with IT and other departments
  • Assist other departments with requests regarding financial results or activities
All other duties as assigned.
 
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • CPA preferred
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in public and/or corporate accounting environment
  • Experience managing a team of direct reports preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Software, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to build relationships with leadership, direct reports, employees, and external business associates
  • Enjoys a fast-paced environment and is self-motivated to accomplish assigned tasks timely and efficiently.
  • System knowledge of large-scale ERP systems
  • SAP and Hyperion experience preferred
  • Ability to successfully complete the pre-employment process.
