What are the responsibilities and job description for the Environmental Manager position at Royal Terberg Group?

Terberg DTS UK is looking for an Environmental Manager to join our growing team.

What is the job role?

This individual will play a key role in developing, implementing, managing and driving efficiencies, environmental programs and initiatives to minimize the company's environmental impact and promote sustainability, to achieve and maintain ISO 14000. To be responsible for overseeing and ensuring compliance with all relevant environmental regulations and company policies, for example SECR (Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting), to the appropriate level. You will work on developing highly sustainable policies and procedures, advising on sustainability strategy, environmental solutions that will involve a mix of innovative technologies and approaches that sit at the heart of everything that Terberg DTS and Terberg MPM undertake.

Requirements And What We Are Looking For

  • Monitor and interpret environmental regulations, including UK and European legislation for Terberg DTS and Terberg MPM, as follows:
  • Energy (efficiency) and Green House Gas emissions,
  • Materials, resource use and waste,
  • Pollution (of air, water and soil), microplastics and substances of (high) concern.
  • Ensure compliance with product related sustainability regulations and standards throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Comply with CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive) and ESRS (European Sustainability Reporting Standards).
  • Acting as project manager for the environmental design scope and taking responsibility for the successful roll out and day to day delivery. In terms of driving real sustainable benefits through the business.
  • Develop and maintain compliance programs and procedures to ensure adherence to applicable laws and standards.
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities and participate in inspections and audits as required.
  • Establish and maintain an Environmental Management System (EMS) tailored to UK operations, in accordance with ISO 14001 standards.
  • Conduct regular assessments and audits to identify environmental risks and opportunities for improvement.
  • Implement measures to minimize environmental impacts and promote resource efficiency.
  • Conduct environmental impact assessments for new projects, facilities, and initiatives.
  • Identify potential environmental risks and develop strategies to mitigate adverse impacts.
  • Develop and implement sustainability initiatives to reduce carbon emissions, waste generation, and resource consumption.
  • Promote energy efficiency, renewable energy usage, and sustainable procurement practices.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to integrate sustainability considerations into business operations, and in tender information.
  • Provide training and guidance to employees on environmental compliance requirements, best practices, and company policies.
  • Foster a culture of environmental awareness and responsibility throughout the organization.
  • Raise awareness of environmental issues and promote employee engagement in sustainability initiatives.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers, customers, and regulatory agencies, on environmental matters.
  • Build partnerships with relevant industry associations, NGOs, and government bodies to stay informed of emerging trends and regulations.
  • Represent the company in environmental forums, conferences, and working groups i.e. Terberg Board Carbon team.
  • To work with all departments, particularly with projects that are being explored or implemented.
  • Undertake any other duties consistent with the purpose of this job or to support the needs of the business.
