We are looking for a qualified Spiritual Counselor who will serve as part of our Interdisciplinary Hospice Team and in cooperation with the team will, on on-call basis, provide counseling and crises intervention services in order to adequately address the spiritual and psychosocial needs of our patients and their family members.
The On-Call Spiritual Counselor will conduct psychosocial assessments/evaluations and provide emotional support to patients and families. The Spiritual Counselor will assess and identify patient/family needs, concerns and opportunities for spiritual and emotional growth. The Spiritual Counselor will serve as a resource to our patients, families and our community.
The Spiritual Counselor must possess a sympathetic attitude toward caring for hospice patients and families and must have excellent oral and written communication skills and positive interaction skills with other members of the hospice team. The Spiritual Counsel must have the ability to be flexible, ecumenical and sensitive to patients and families of all faiths and religious affiliations, as well as possess knowledge of beliefs and practices of different cultures as they relate to death and dying.
The Spiritual Counselor must be able to utilize computers and be comfortable with EMR.
On-Call visits are frequently after hours and on weekends.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate of accredited seminary or school of theology or appropriate certification in hospital or pastoral ministry.
- Masters of Divinity preferred.
- Experience working with patients and families dealing with life threatening illnesses and death.
- Valid driver’s license, and auto insurance, reliable/well maintained transportation.
- Spanish preferred, but not required.
